Is This FINALLY The End??!!

Today whilst at work (not working), I received word from the VERY top that my OFFICIAL last day of work will be.........wait for it- 11/01/09!!!!

No, fortunately I'm NOT being layed off. After 25 years of swerving and deflecting, and basically being a menace to society, I will be retiring. My last day would actually be 01/01/10 (play that number!), but I get two months "terminal" leave where I will still be on the books (w/FULL pay), but will NOT, I repeat NOT, have to come to work!

Hopefully if it works out, they (the secret guberment) have offered me a part time position as a "civilian" doing what I'm currently doing, which is basically nothing, for less pay and hours, which is fine with me.

Of course this could all fall through and I could end up in the Sh!tter! Don't hate me. :-)

My dad went through something similar. He works for NSA. They wanted to outsource what his department did, and it was easier for the consulting company to hire from his department since they all knew what they were doing and knew the systems and protocols inside and out and already had background checks. So he was "retired" from the NSA (send him a flag and a watch and a certificate and everything) even though he was well under retirement age, and then he was immediately re-hired by the consulting company.

Your dad?! I'm sure he's young, so I'll try not to read into your comment, Cate. ;^)

Wow, he got some nice stuff. I'll be lucky if I get a cold cuppa joe & a stale donut! :~}

I'll not say anything about my dad still being several years from retirement, then. ;D

See, now Emma's a smart female kinda woman. Cate should listen to you! :-)

THANKS so much for leaving a comment. Please stop by if you take a wrong turn or get a flat tire.

Well, once you have more time on your hands, you can start shooting some film-shorts. NOT like the cop video, though. Something a lot more creative...

You can also focus on your music career (if that's what you want to call it).

Sigh- I'll soon be blogging with a retired ol' geezer.

*KIDDING!*

It sounds like heaven to me! I cannot wait to retire. Unfortunately, I like to eat, so will have to work for many more years. LOL!

Hope that arrangement works out for you. How do you feel about the prospect of not going to a job?(Notice I didn't say "not working" - which, by your own admission, you are already doing.)

I have to say that I never minded working and hope someday to work at something I really love - might be too late though - getting into that no-hire age zone and all...

Congrats, I think?

I know Stef, I know...sigh

I'm actually hoping to start shooting the 1st (of hopefully MANY shorts- not underwear) soon. Of course you'll be the 1st to know...or not.

The band's slowly chuggin' along. We have another gig at the end of this month. It's on a school night, so the old dudes (us) asked to go on early. We're tryin' to come up w/a killer, rockin' set. Of this we shall see- or is that hear?

Geezer?! 25 1/2 is a geezer?!

Such HARSH words Zetz. Fortunately for you I'm a forgiving kinda geezer!!!!!
