T.M.I. Tuesday!

Several of my fellow bloggers post these, so I'm going to liberate the idea & try it here at FLAST. Stealing sounds so petty, doesn't it? I find these posts to be quite interesting & ofttimes fun.

I hesitated doing this as I'm not sure it's worth it based on my blog traffic. Please report all accidents to the authorities & your insurance carrier. Also keep in mind your mileage may vary.

OK, so here's how I'm hopping (beyond hope) it's gonna work- No matter what the post topic for that Tuesday, ANY interested reader may leave a question (or 2) in the comment area directed at yours truly. Kindly give me some time to truthfully answer, or at least come up with some amazingly implausible answer that will make your head spin! Please remind me that it's a T.M.I.T. question as I usually can't remember what the hellabaloo day it is! ;^)

Feel free to ask (almost) anything, & I being the witty forthright kinda guy, will attempt to answer it to the best of my abilities. It can be a personal question, a fun question, a quizzical question-whatever! If there is enough interest (at least 1 bored reader) I will continue this (ASSumed) exciting NEW feature at FLAST. If not, it'll probably go the way of the Flying Monkey Butt Flu!

So get out your #2 pencils (make sure they have erasers) & play along. P-L-E-A-S-E! I'm really trying to keep this blog interesting folks, but I need your kind assistance. My sponsors are dropping off like flies, & I really need the cash to pay off my 1/3 second cousins bail bondsman!

*ADDENDUM*
OK, new rules. Only one question per person, per Tuesday- THANKS! Have you read my answers? They're even longer than my posts which tend to be quite wordy & long! For the MOST part I think that went well & I enjoyed it VERY much, although I was hoping more folks would chime in. Can you guys come back with new questions under assumed sketchy pseudonyms?

Please sir, we'd like to know all about your musical history. Have you always played your current instrument? Are there other embarrassing orchestral instruments from your gradeschool days?

Who are your musical heroes and why? Have you met any of them?

Ooh, I like cate's questions!

Here are mine....

What is your favorite city and why?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What teacher had the biggest impact on your life and why?

I have some other questions, but I will reserve them for another time, maybe a late nite call, so you can keep up your PG-13rating. *snort*

Have a great day, Handsome.

xoxo

Hmmm. Interesting idea... Here goes nothing, brace yourself!

~ Before you die, where in the world would you love to go (money not being a problem)? And how would you fully enjoy the experience? Who would you bring? Or would you travel by your lonesome?

Ooo! Goody-goody! It worked, it worked! I gots meez some questions.

We'll start w/Cate 'cause she was 1st- DON'T pout vk, you'll be next.

MUSICAL HISTORY-

-Pots & pans & my twin brothers head!

- Lessons began when I was in 4th grade (age?) & I quit when my instructor would ONLY let me play the pad set instead of real drums!

- During that time my mum got me a single snare drum to see if it was just a passing fancy I guess. After sticking w/it she got me a small arm w/a cymbal that attached to the drum.

- Stopped playing until about 7th grade when my mum bought me my 1st full drum kit. Played it 'till I got bored.

- When I was about 16 I bought a crappy 2nd hand kit from my boss at Friendly's restaurant. I played w/just him at "Friendly parties"- all he knew how to play was AC/DC songs!

- When I was 18 I joined a Beatle sound-alike band

- When I was 19 I formed a cover-band w/a guy I'm currently playing with.

- Not long after that I joined an original Christian rock band, but (being a sinner) longed to play secular music. When that band folded, I gave up drums, giving my kit away to a kid at church.

TO BE CONTINUED- I have to go back to work! :-(

P.S. What's wrong with a loveable serial killer and a mango to cheer an 18 year old up...?

Actually, I didn't watch Dexter last night... I cheered up by watching Will & Grace (a show I NEVER watch... but it had Kevin Bacon!), channel surfing, and watching The English Patient 'til
3:30am.

OK-Cate Part II
Back at workin' hard or hardly workin'!

- Didn't play drums for MANY years until about the mid-90's when I bought my 1st truly professional brand-spankin' NEW drum kit!

- I played w/myself (oops!) ALONE, until about a year later when this guy, Bruce Tunkel, saw my "lookin' for a band ta join" ad in a local music paper. Bruce had been signed w/Capital Records in the early 90's w/his band The Red House. After only 1 disc & a vid played late at night on MTV-the band got dropped & broke-up. Bruce released a solo-disc to moderate acclaim & decided to put a backing band together to tour locally. I auditioned & made the cut- of course!
I played w/him on & off for the next 7-years in various incarnations of the band. We recorded a few cd's that no one bought & got some local radio play which was cool. We also got to play some VERY cool gigs w/the likes of Springsteen, Jovi, Southside Johnny, Jeffery Gaines, & many more cool musicians. I even became luke-warm friends w/Max Weinberg (E Street Band) & Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens who I occasionally see around. Ain't I a braggy name-droppa?!

After Bruce broke up the band in '02- I took a break until...

-Last year when a former flame, now just a wee spark, talked me into buying a NEW Ringo/Beatle type kit that I had wanted for years. I began to play in an attempt to get my chops back & jammed w/a guy who I used to play with. I brought in my bass player friend who played w/BT, & he brought in a friend of his from way back. We are now Playback & we'll see what happens- I've been trying pointlessly to get BT to put a band together again, but I think it falls on deaf ears....What?!

So I think we're up to date?

Yes Cate, I've always played the drums, but attempted to play da sax in 5th grade, but couldn't get the hang of it- becomming frustrated & I threw it at my twin brothers head.

In 7th grade I joined the orchestra as a means to get chicks- I learned chicks don't dig guy's in the orchestra- perhaps it was just me. I chose the "kettle" or timpani (?) drums which I could NOT play 'cause I could NOT read music & was much too lazy to learn! Me & this other guy just effed around- The instructor must have known, but he never said anything- I think it might have shown in my F-- grade.

TO BE CONTIUNED!- I have to get the chief his afternoon coffee- Yes, I'm the departmental bitch!
Holy crap- I didn't know what I was getting myself into- although I tend too write too much, yes Zetz? Boy my fingers hurt.

Cate-Part III

I'M BACK- 'cause work's for sissies & fools, & I ain't no sissy!

MUSICAL HEROES-
See above for info. Other heroes are- Petty, Moon, Ringo, Lynch, Taylor, Ella, & ME- I've met ME on a few occasions. Not impressed. There are too MANY to mention & my brain's fried, so we'll have to come back to this one day.

Is that enough info Cate? It is T.M.I.T. after all so one can't give too much.

Next?!

OK, vk's up next!

Fav city is a toss up between NYC & Chi-Town! Love NY 'cause it's close & it's the city I know the best (next town over) for MANY reasons which I can't get into due to legalities & the fact that I can't feel my finger tips. Chicago because it's clean & for the most part the people are friendly. Great food- especially PIZZA! Yum. It's my Kryptonite!

Honestly, I'm not sure. I guess some kinda published author or filmmaker with an actual film to show. MORE than those things however, I'd like to be more joyful & more at peace in my head & heart before I kick the bucket!

Teachers- that's a real TOUGH one. I had a lot of in's & out's at school. I tended to be a loner. I had some learning disabilities & kids can be cruel. It wasn't the best of times, but by the grace of God & the patience of my mother, I made it! The short, or in my case long of it is, I think almost every teacher I had who was able to endure me added to & left some kind of imprint, no matter how small, on my life, but I definately preferred the HOT female teachers!

The other questions will have to wait until I pick you up at 7! Be ready. I don't like to wait!

OK Zetz- I see you kept it short & sweet- Bless you my child.

I'd like to go back to England & perhaps see a bit more of Europe. It would be cool to hit Liverpool 'cause of the Beatle thing. I'd love to visit Australia- LOVE that accent & I want to ride in the pouch of a 'roo! Most of all I think I'd like to visit Salzburg Austria where they filmed the Sound of Music, one of my fav films- corny, but WHATEVER!

I've traveled alone, but at this point in my life I think I'd prefer the company of a lovely lady. One w/whom we would not kill each other along the journey! I'm stuck w/myself all the time so I'd prefer someone else!

Any takers?! Any takers that'll pay for the whole damn trip?! Didn't think so-oh well, it is what it is.

Stef, I only like Kevin w/a side of eggs & a sling of hash! Funny & clever no? I truly never tire of my wit.

I'm taking....where we going?

You know vk. That place, that has the room, with the thing you like. I can't recall it's name. You pick up the tab, I'll spring for dessert & the tip if the service is good. Perhaps room service- OH BEHAVE!

SORRY readers! She does that to me.

I love the Smithereens!

C. Louis Wolfe said...

I kinda dig the Smithereens too Cate.

I like the Beatle covers cd's they've been doin' lately. They're lot's of fun! Sadly their career is not what it once was lo those many years past hence- or sump'in like that.
