A Beautiful Mind

MORE exciting news!

Apparently beauty is in the BRAIN of the beholder. It seems researchers found men process beauty on the right side of their brains, while the ladies use their whole brain.

When women consider a visual object, they link it to language, while most men tend to concentrate on the spatial aspects of the subject or object. At the University of Baleares in Spain, researchers tested 10 men & 10 women, showing them paintings & photos of urban scenes & landscapes. They then asked the participants to rate each scene as either beautiful or not beautiful.

At the same time, researchers looked at images of the magnetic fields produced by electrical currents in the brains of the men & women. For both sexes the most active region was the parietal lobe that deals with visual perception, spatial orientation & information processing, but it was focused on the right side of the brain in men while both sides of the brain participated in women.
