I know of no way (does anyone?) to be alerted to new comments on older posts, and do not wish to miss any. My hope and desire is that if anyone comments on an older post, you would be so kind as to place said comment in the most recent post and refer it to which ever older post the comment is for- THANKS!
Did that actually make any comprehensible sense to anyone?!

If you go to the Settings tab, and then the Comments sub tab, at the very bottom, you can enter an e-mail to notify you of new comments. I think it will alert you to new comments, no matter what post they're on.
